Is Ferrari Really Contemplating A Sport-Ute?

Ferrari F599 FS Sport-UteApparently the rumor is that Ferrari is building a sporty utility vehicle. Many of us are thinking why in the heck would Ferrari – who is famous for their compact sport cars – build an SUV? Unfortunately the rumor is true.

They have dubbed it the Ferrari F599 FS 599 Fuoristrada, and project an unveiling at the 2010 Geneva show. They’ve even gone so far as to predict its weight (2.2 tons dry), engine (a variation on the 599 GTB’s, itself derived from the Enzo) and output (over 600 HP), wheel and tire sizes (22″ and 315), four-wheel-drive system (2/3 rearward bias), performance (0-60 in under five, top end around 180mph) and price (over €250k).

Vandenbrink 599 GTOThe new Vandenbrink 599 GTO – created by Michiel van den Brink – is based on the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. The original design was so incredible and beautiful that van den Brink knew that the vehicle had to be created and seen in person.

We already knew five copies of the 650-HP 599 GTO were set to be built and had, in fact, already be sold. Vandenbrink, however, revealed today that a new model called the 630 GTO would also be offered.

Ferrari And A1GP Band To Form A2GP Series

A1GPFirst we found out that Ferrari was talking with A1GP and than we found out that the Ferrari international racing series has announced that the two racing outfits have signed a six-year contract with Maranello. Ferrari was bound to make some changes in hopes of improving their race cars.

The terms of the agreement have Ferrari supplying the V8 engines for all the national teams competing in the series starting the season after next, when the current deal with Lola and Zytek expires. In addition to powering the new cars, Ferrari will also consult on the design of the chassis, which will be built by an as-yet undisclosed third party.
