Ferrari May Use HGT-S Pack For 612 Scaglietti

612 ScagliettiThe Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is a bit of an odd vehicle to some people. The lackluster styling doesn’t efectively portray the heart-pounding performance, and despite the car’s expansive length, it handles as nimbly as a car several feet shorter. But while the 612’s incongruity might not win it as many fans as its peerless dynamics may warrant, it’s still an Italian GT and is acctually one of the best. And there’s few things we like better than improving on that formula. To that effect, Maranello is now offering the HGT-S package.

2006 612 Kappa

2006 612 KappaThe most identifiable trait of the new 612 K is the much more pronounced hood scoop and its tiny accent that shows us an all-aluminum body. Once that catches the viewer’s eye, other more subtle features including Enzo-like rear taillights, extra wide air front wheel extractors, a unique sunroof and chromed headlights show just how thorough Pininfarina can be. In fact, the Kappa has been totally rebodied.

2006 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

2006 Ferrari 612 scagliettiThe 2006 ferrari 612 Scaglietti is powered by the latest evolution of the V12 used in the discontinued 575M Maranello. More important, though, is the 612’s all-aluminum space frame and body-panel construction design, the first for a V12 Ferrari. At 4,056 pounds, the 612 is no lightweight, but it’s still 600-1,200 pounds lighter than competitors like the Mercedes-Benz CL65 and the Bentley Continental GT. The Ferrari’s V12 is mounted rearward enough that the 612 can be considered a front-midengine car and as a result has a 46/54 front/rear weight balance. Ferrari claims that 85 percent of the car’s weight is between the axles.
