Ross Brawn Comes Out Of Retirement But Not Back To F1

Ross BrawnRoss Brawn is coming out of retirement to get back to the job he loves. We would expect him to return to Ferrari – but instead he has turned his sights onto Honda and making them his new team. Jenson Button is enthusiastic to be bringing Brawn on board and is confident that will all of Brawn’s experience that he gathered from the Ferrari team he can bring some much needed improvements to the struggling team.

“I am very happy, and I think this is what the team needs. The guy has so much experience in F1,” Button said.

Brawn spent 10 years at Ferrari, guiding the Italian giants to six consecutive constructors’ championships between 1999 and 2004, but quit his position at the end of the 2006 season to take a 12-month sabbatical. But Brawn, who spent the time traveling around the world, admitted he missed the buzz of racing and found the challenge of rejuvenating Honda was too tempting to turn down.

“One man does not turn around the whole team, but his input, his guidance and direction are going to make a big difference,” said Button. “He has done it all before, and I am really looking forward to working with him.”

Ferrari has already felt some of the effects of losing him when he retired. It seems that they are going to have to work even harder against Honda now to make sure that they don’t get the upper hand.
