When it comes to rumors we are all ears – especially when it comes to possible information on a new model. The new rumors are giving us insight into a convertible model of the 599 GTB Fiorano – which Ferrari is planning on releasing within a couple of years.
Speculation surrounding the 599 Spider is backed up by an interview with Ferrari’s General Director, Amadeo Felisa, which appeared recently in the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. When asked about a convertible 599, Felisa confirmed that Ferrari is developing such a model for possible production in a limited series like its predecessor, the 575-based SuperAmerica.
Ferrari is getting ready to release its newest and most amazing vehicle yet. One that will get them in on the eco-friendly market. This newest Ferrari will be much lighter than normal and will use a lower-displacement engine. But don’t think that will but back on the whopping 500 HP.
Thoughts are that such a car would derive its powerplant from the one mooted for the Millechili concept shown earlier this year. Though the car shown was nothing more than cardboard, the powerplant spoken of was a twin-turbocharged, direct-injection, 550-hp, 3.0-liter V-8.
The folks over at World Car Fans posted a photo (see left) of what they speculate is a spy photo of a Ferrari Dino 599 test mule. The claim is based on the fact that it’s clearly a 599 body and the obvius lack of engine ”sound” which doesn’t sound as sharp as an F430. Rumor is this Dino will be powered by V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower. Ferrari will most likely start with a Coupe, but expect a Spider later on. Even though Ferrari is still denying the project, expect to see it on the roads by 2009.
